GENETICS FACULTY RECOGNIZED BY STUDENTS AND COLLEAGUES

Outstanding Service to Community

The faculty assembly of the School of Medicine at LSUHSC in New Orleans, in order to recognize the contributions of faculty to the mission of the School of Medicine, developed recognition awards for: Outstanding Service to the Instution, Outstanding Service to the Community, Outstanding Young Faculty Member, and Outstanding Mentor. 

We are proud to announce that Dr. Fern Tsien received the 2011 LSU School of Medicine Faculty Assembly Award for Outstanding Service to the Community!  Dr. Tsien recently organized a community outreach project at the New Orleans Audubon Zoo in celebration of DNA Day.  To learn more about Dr. Tsien's research interests and community service, please click here to visit her website. 

Outstanding Young Faculty Mentor

We are also very proud that Dr. Udai Pandey  was nominated for the Outstanding Young Faculty Award.  Dr. Pandy joined the faculty in the Department of Genetics in July 2009 and has obviously made an impact in our research community.  To learn more about Dr. Pandey's research interests, please click here to visit his website. 

Excellence in Teaching

Each year the Aesculapian Society at the LSUHSC School of Medicine in New Orleans asks the medical students to nominate faculty on the basis of leadership, quality of instrution, approachability, and overall excellence in teaching.  We are proud to announce that Dr. Paula Gregory  is a nominee for this award.

The Aesculapian Society's objective is "to promote amicable interchange of opinion between the student body and the faculty, with a view to the constant improvement of educational, medical, and scientific standards."  At the end of each school year, the student body nominates both basic science and clinical faculty for the Aesculapian "Excellence in Teaching Award."
