Rheumatology

Welcome to the LSU Rheumatology Section

Our outstanding faculty, staff and fellows provide exceptional clinical care and offer tremendous access to patient groups in every disease state in Rheumatology. Our spectrum of services range from ICU consults with Diffuse Alveolar Hemorrhage or Rapidly Progressive Glomerulonephritis to outpatient consults for shoulder pain. We provide care for patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Lupus, Spondyloarthropathies, Sarcoid, Vasculitis, and other subsets of Rheumatic Diseases. Faculty have the ability to develop large cohorts of patients in these disease states for research purposes. Our program includes four clinical practice sites. Location sites in New Orleans include University Medical Center (UMC), Veterans Medical Center (VA), Children’s Hospital New Orleans (CHNO), and Our Lady of the Lake  (OLOL) - LSU in Baton Rouge.

We collaborate regularly with other specialties regarding overlapping conditions to address the total and complete care of our diverse patient population.

Our ancillary staff and administration are fully supportive. With their support, we have recently added a Musculoskeletal Ultrasound component to our program.

We provide an outstanding ACGME accredited two year fellowship program that trains two fellows per year. Internal Medicine residents and medical student teaching and supervision are additional components of our educational mission.
