Postdoctoral Fellowship in
Thank you for inquiring about our postdoctoral fellowships in psychology at LSUHSC! The postdoctoral psychology fellowship affords trainees the opportunity to consolidate and refine existing clinical skills while obtaining specialized training in trauma, health psychology, or community mental health. The psychology fellowship program is designed to be flexible enough to take into account the needs and professional goals of each trainee. At the same time, the fellowship is committed to the goal of helping the psychology fellow develop and further hone competencies in the traditional core skills of clinical psychology such as psychotherapy, clinical interviewing, treatment planning, psychodiagnostic testing, ethics and risk management, and consultation/interdisciplinary development.
Supervision of psychology fellows follows a competency-based approach with each fellow receiving an average of 2-4 hours of supervision per week with a minimum of 1 hour per week to be completed face-to-face with your primary supervisor. It is expected that psychology fellows with require the most directive supervision during the start of their fellowship and follow a developmental approach in which they will function more independently at the end of their year. Group supervision is also available dependent on clinical rotations and additional educational experiences that fellows engage in.
LSUHSC School of Medicine typically offers multiple postdoctoral fellowships per year dependent on funding. We will have 4 postdoctoral fellowships available beginning July 1, 2024. The anticipated fellowships for 2024-2025 include:
