As I type this, I am counting down the hours before precious family members come home for Thanksgiving. I hope everyone was able to pause their busy schedules at least for a few hours to enjoy the season of Thanksgiving.
Family love and pride was on full display during the recent Class of 2029's Family Day.
Since 1996, I have worked with so many of you, having the privilege of telling your stories through many different avenues and for many different reasons. I have been awed by your breakthroughs and innovations and tireless work. Thank YOU for being part of the LSU School of Medicine's story!
The LCME Survey Visit Team obviously agrees that this is an amazing community -- further demonstrated by the long list of awards garnered by faculty and staff this quarter. National Cancer Institute Deputy Director Dr. Douglas Lowy's recent visit also affirmed that LSU Health Sciences Center and the School of Medicine are advancing the science and medicine of cancer care in ways that are most impactful to those who live right here in Louisiana.
I can't let an issue go by without thanking the team who makes this newsletter possible each quarter: Dr. Judy Crabtree, Todd LaGrange, and Dr. Stephanie Taylor.
Please continue to tell us about your work! You can email me at dflock@lsuhsc.edu anytime with an idea for a story, information or pictures that we can share.
