I am a firm believer that those who regularly practice gratitude enhance their lives in countless ways. I think that is why November, with the Thanksgiving holidays and the time reserved to reflect on what we have to be grateful for, has always ranked as one of my favorite times of the year.

There are so many stories this quarter that bring me great happiness to share with you:

This publication is full of great news. I didn't even mention yet that Governor Edwards visited the campus or all of the incredible research that made the news this quarter. I hope you can take the time to read through it and come away with a new appreciation for the amazing work each and every one of you do and how it impacts our city and our state and the health of our global community.

Thank you all for the opportunity to share this good news with you. Please continue to tell me about your work! You can email me at dflock@lsuhsc.edu anytime with an idea for a story, information or pictures that we can share. As always, I extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Judy Crabtree, Todd LaGrange, Akriti Karki, and Dr. Stephanie Taylor who all work behind the scenes to get each issue published.
