School of Medicine

The Pulse

2020 was quite the year, but there is still so much to be grateful for. I am grateful to all the frontline health care workers who continue to fight for their patients each day, struggling with their own fatigue and finding the mental strength to face each day and new surge. I am grateful for the researchers behind the scenes, working tirelessly to figure out the mysteries of COVID-19 so that better safety guidelines and therapeutics can be developed.

I am grateful for all the important work that continues to go on at the School of Medicine despite the pandemic. I had the opportunity to talk to both Dr. Angela McLean about her new expanded role as the Associate Dean for Admissions and also with Dr. Robin English about how technology improvements made long before the pandemic prepared the School to transition to remote learning today. We have also revamped the Dean's Seminar Series - now you can find the date for the next one, but you can also find out about the previous seminar if you were not able to attend it live.

Lastly, I am grateful to the team who makes this newsletter possible: Darlene Guillot, Dr. Judy Crabtree, Todd LaGrange, and Dr. Richard DiCarlo. Without the contributors who provide me with ideas, information and articles we wouldn't have a newsletter, so please keep the emails coming! Please contact me at dflock@lsuhsc.edu anytime with information or pictures that we can share.
