After completing a fellowship at Kinshasa University Hospital, Kinshasa, DRC, Dr. Nsuami worked in general practice at Maison Médicale de Lemba in Kinshasa, Zaire. In 1987, he joined the CDC’s AIDS Project as co-investigator in the HIV Perinatal Transmission Studies in the Zaire Ministry of Public Health.

In 1995, Dr. Nsuami took the position of Research Field Coordinator for the School-Based STD Screening Program at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He held this position for a year before becoming a Research Associate in the same program.

Following a short stint as an Epidemiologist with First Health Services in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Nsuami returned to LSU School of Medicine, first as a Research Associate and, since 2004, as Assistant Professor of Research.

Dr. Nsuami is a member of the American STD Association and an associate member of the International Union against STI-Africa.
