Oral Cancer Screening Program

Due to the high incidence of tobacco use and HIV, Louisiana experiences an increased prevalance of oral cancers. A new etiological agent, the Human Papilloma Virus is causing an increase in tonsil and tongue cancer diagnoses in younger individuals.

Our goal with this program is to "flip this cancer," and in an effort to raise awareness, the Department of Otolaryngology hosts free oral cancer screenings.
