The Pulse

Denise Flock-Williams

Our previous issue of The Pulse was published in the days following Hurricane Ida. At that time, we still didn't have a definite timeline for restoration of power and internet. Although I know many of us are still battling with Ida-related issues in our personal lives, I am grateful that the campus was largely spared the worst of Ida's impact.

This issue is filled with stories of the LSU Health New Orleans family carrying out our incredibly vital mission of education, patient care, scientific discovery, and community outreach. Despite Ida's interruption, the list of honors, awards, and representation on national committees and in esteemed journals is a long one. This issue's Dean's Corner details the many ways our  colleagues stepped up during and in the immediate aftermath of Ida.

With the season of Thanksgiving still upon us, I just want to say how grateful I am for the opportunity to share the wonderful work that each and every one of you do. I am also thankful to those of you who take the time to let me know about what is happening within your own department so that I can share it in The Pulse. Please continue to contact me at dflock@lsuhsc.edu anytime with an idea for a story, information or pictures that we can share. As always, I extend additional thanks to Dr. Judy Crabtree, Todd LaGrange, and Dr. Richard DiCarlo, who work behind the scenes to get each issue published.
