Gold Humanism Honor Society Announces Students of the Fall Semester

Lauren Bagneris, President of GHHS, Class of 2024, and Bethany Acosta, Secretary of GHHS, Class of 2024, recently announced the Gold Humanism Honor Society Students of the Fall 2023 semester:

Avni Shridhar, L2: Avni was recognized for her creating/founding the Mobile Health Outreach (MHO) program under SRCC. She brought together a team of more than 20 students to aid in the founding and share in the success and creation of the program. Throughout the fall semester, MHO has had nine successful outreach sessions at Duncan Plaza providing medical care and resources to the local unhoused population.

Lauryn Bass, L3: Lauryn was recognized for taking the initiative to help a mother with a medically complex child and three other children who had traveled from South America nearly entirely on foot during her neurology rotation at CHNOLA. She connected the mother with a long-term, Spanish-speaking case-worker who specializes in immigration.

Mitch Capella, L4: Mitch was recognized for going above and beyond for both his patients and his classmates. With students, he took the time to debrief them after difficult cases. He checked on his patients after rounds, ensured the translator was on before the attending got to his patients, and offered words of support and empathy to all the patients on the service.
