Dr. Danette Null Receives Golden Stethoscope Award
On December 11, the Administrative Team of Lake Charles Memorial Health System (LCMHS)
planned a carefully orchestrated arrival at the close of Grand Rounds to present The
Golden Stethoscope Award to Dr. Danette Null.
LCMHS recognizes an outstanding provider (physician, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse anesthetist) who demonstrates excellence in patient care, customer service, communication, and teamwork. Nominations are submitted by patients, visitors, staff, patient family members or colleagues. A review of feedback secured through online reviews, patient letters, peer reviews, and Press Ganey surveys are contributing factors in the final selection. Along with excellent patient care, other attributes considered include but are not limited to involvement and interaction with patient families, accessibility/approachability, coordination of care, empathy, and successful patient outcomes.
With colleagues, resident physicians, and family present, Devon Hyde, President and CEO, read the inscription on the plaque displayed within the hospital.
As Program Director of the LSUHSC Family Medicine Residency at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Dr. Null exemplifies leadership with the same compassion she extends to her patients – from the heart. Since 2008, she has adeptly instilled her passion for patient care, continuous learning, and the pursuit of excellence into the next generation of physicians. Dr. Null is cherished by her patients and staff for her unwavering dedication both professionally and personally. Her contributions extend beyond patient care and resident training as Dr. Null played a pivotal role in the residency program’s survival and recovery following Hurricane Laura. For her resourcefulness and brilliant command of a crisis, she was recognized as the 2021 LSU School of Medicine Honorary Alumna of the Year. Southwest Louisiana and Lake Charles Memorial Health System are fortunate to have Dr. Null serving our community.
Closing on a personal note Hyde said, “I’ve been with the organization close to two years. Dr. Null was one of the first physicians to reach out to me as the new executive and say, ‘How do we partner together? What do you know about residencies? How can I help?’ She let me know early on she was a physician leader and mentor that I could reach out to. Again, going above and beyond what would normally be expected. Personally, I appreciate you extending that hand of friendship and leadership to me early in my tenure. Thank you so very much.”
