Michelle B. Moore, Psy.D., ABPP is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology, a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Orthopaedic Surgery and an Assistant Dean for
Faculty Affairs at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC), School
of Medicine. She is a Certified Wellness Provider and a Certified Executive Coach.
Since 2023, she has served as Director of Faculty Development for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
where she developed an Executive Coaching program. She previously served as Section
Chief for Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry from 2022-2025. Dr. Moore was awarded the Anderson/Searle Professorship in Psychiatry in 2019 as well
as the Mollie Wallick Professorship in Psychiatry in 2022. In 2023, Dr. Moore was
selected to serve as the School of Medicine's Senior Representative to Association
of American Medical Colleges, Council of Faculty and Academic Societies.
In her clinical roles, Dr. Moore provides outpatient psychotherapy for children through adults as well as special education evaluations for charter school students in New Orleans. Since she joined the faculty in 2011, Dr. Moore has participated in 119 local TV and radio interviews representing LSUHSC and discussing a wide variety of mental health topics pertinent to the larger community. In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. Moore is active in teaching, scholarly writing and national presentations. She enjoys presenting on wellness, child development and understanding ethical dilemmas in clinical practice. In collaboration with colleagues, Dr. Moore has presented nationally about a framework which integrates professional development and wellness. Dr. Moore recently published “Sustainable Wellness: A Memoir of Loss, Perserverance and Resilience” which serves as the foundation for the sustainable wellness workshops she provides to faculty, staff and trainees at various institutions and conferences. From 2023-2024, Dr. Moore served as the guest editor for a special issue of the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings titled “Our Greatest Resource in Academic Health Centers: Focus on Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development” comprised of 16 original articles.
Dr. Moore has been active in service to the profession of psychology as well as the School of Medicine at LSUHSC. She served on the Executive Council of the Louisiana Psychological Association (LPA) from 2014-2016, and she served as the Training Director of the Psychology Internship Program at LSUHSC from 2017-2023. Most recently, Dr. Moore was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists in 2019, served as Vice Chair from 2022-2023, and served as Chair of LSBEP from 2023-2024. Dr. Moore has served on planning committees for local and national conferences including LPA, Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) and Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC). At the School of Medicine, Dr. Moore served as a Co-Chair for the Women’s Affairs Committee from 2020-2022, Mentoring Committee from 2022-2024, and Faculty Development and Evaluation Committee from 2022-2025. Since 2021, Dr. Moore has served as the faculty advisor for the Non-Traditional Medical Student Advocacy Committee. In 2025, Dr. Moore was asked to serve as a co-Team Lead for the LCME work group focused on faculty.
Outside of work, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, especially baking and sharing what they create with others. She is an avid runner and believes in running with purpose. She has run with Team ALS to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in the 2023 NYC Marathon and the 2025 Chicago Marathon. Since 2018, she has run the Crescent City Classic every year as a charity runner with the local non-profit Team Gleason.
