Bio

Dr. Wilcox joined the faculty of LSU School of Medicine as an assistant professor in 2000. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics as well as a fellowship in Adult Infectious Diseases at LSU and also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Tulane University. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Infectious Diseases.

Director and principal curriculum planner of the LA Statewide HIV Clinical Update Course, an annual one-day conference, 2002--present

Curriculum planning and course director for two 2-day preceptorship courses on the subject of HIV, 2002--2008

Course Director and presenter for a 4-hour workshop entitled “HIV in Primary Care,” presented in rural settings in numerous locations throughout Louisiana for primary care personnel and support personnel who care for minority populations, 2007—present

Agenda developer and presenter of a multi-disciplinary 4-hour workshop on “Gastro-Intestinal Issues in HIV,” 2008

Course Director and principal planner for 5-hour workshop in honor of National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, entitled “Native American Health and Cultural Concerns,“ which presented Native American cultural issues to HIV care clinicians and HIV-related clinical topics to Native American medical professionals throughout the Southeast, 2009

Annual presentation on an HIV-related topic to the Internal Medicine residents.

Annual presentations to Family Practice residents on HIV or Infectious Diseases topics.
