SOM ACHIEVEMENTS, AWARDS AND HONORS

Ophthalmology:

Joshua Butrick, Ophthalmology Education Coordinator, was appointed to the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) Inaugural Communications Committee. It is the only coordinator position that they offer and a three-year appointment.  

Maria Reinoso, MD, Associate Professor and Residency Program Director for Ophthalmology, was selected to serve on the AUPO Resident and Fellow Research Forum Committee.

Otolaryngology:

Dr. Phillip Allen was appointed Associate Chief Medical Officer at Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center.

Drs. Erbele, Mankekar, and Arriaga's poster, "Management of cholesteatoma and tegmen dehiscence: complexities and nuance," was awarded “Poster of Distinction” at the North American Skull Base Society annual meeting in San Antonio, TX. 

Dr Tammy BradfordPediatrics:

Congratulations to Dr. Tammy Bradford who was named one of the American Heart Association's 2020 “Women in Medicine” honorees. This award is given to only 10 local female leaders in the New Orleans area who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to healthcare and medicine.

Ryan H. Pasternak, MD, MPH, FAAP was elected to the board of directors of the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM). Dr. Pasternak will serve a three-year term to further the society's mission which is to promote the optimal health and well-being of all adolescents and young adults by supporting adolescent health and medicine professionals through the advancement of clinical practice, care delivery, research, advocacy, and professional development.
