Bio

Emilio A. Russo, MD currently serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine, Director of the LSU Rural Family Medicine Residency Program, and the Chief of Staff for Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, Louisiana. While overseeing more than twenty-five physicians, Dr. Russo divides his days between administrative responsibilities, mentoring house staff toward artful medicine, and caring for his patients as a full-spectrum family physician in a rural hospital.

Dr. Russo graduated from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2005 and completed his residency at the Family Medicine Spokane Rural Training Track in 2008. Prior to coming to Bogalusa in 2013, he spent 5 years practicing in inner-city New Orleans as part of a developing network of LSU clinics post-Katrina and as a member of the NHSC. 

While at home, Dr. Russo spends his time with his beautiful wife of 10 years as well as their four children—Giovanni, Mia, Liliana, and Luca. He also enjoys reading, cooking, and playing the guitar.
