Bio

Dr. Leanne LeBlanc is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. LeBlanc is a native of Erath, La.,and a former Ragin Cajun. She graduated from the University of  Louisiana at Lafayette in 1986 with a bachelor's of science in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1993 from LSU School of Medicine - New Orleans. During her fourth year of medical school, she was invited to join Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and has been a member in good standing since joining. Dr. LeBlanc trained in Family Medicine at University Medical Center in Lafayette, serving as chief resident her final year. After graduating from residency, she completed a Rural Medicine Fellowship in north Louisiana to gain more obstetrical surgical experience.

Attracted to the abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities in the northwest as well as a climate with four seasons, Dr. LeBlanc moved to rural Idaho in 1997. She spent the next decade in the small rural community of Grangeville, a rancher/farmer town of about 3,500 people. The community had a 16-bed critical access hospital and 5 Family Physicians, all in private practice. The closest tertiary care hospital was 75 miles away; the closest cardiologist was 200 miles away. All the family doctors covered their offices, did inpatient care, covered the emergency room, delivered babies both vaginally and by Caesarean section, performed minor surgeries, and assisted in major surgery. Dr. LeBlanc also helped start the Syringa General Hospital Hospice program in 1997 and served as its volunteer medical director throughout her tenure. She also served as medical director of the nursing home, Grangeville Health and Rehabilitation, for several years.

Dr. LeBlanc is a Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine and is also a board-certified member of the American Board of Holistic and Integrative Medicine. Her medical interests include obstetrics, holistic and  integrative medicine, complementary and alternative treatments, end-of-life and palliative care, health promotion, disease prevention, and  good primary care. Her interests outside of medicine include hiking, reading, horseback riding, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
