How to Apply to the Program
We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and accept applications exclusively through this platform. Applications are accepted from Mid-July through October 1. Following a comprehensive review, selected applicants will be invited by the Program Director and Program Administrator to interview between August and November. Given the competitive nature of the process, early application is strongly encouraged. The Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program welcomes applicants with J-1 visa sponsorship. Additional details are available through the Office of Graduate Medical Education. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements and include the materials listed within their ERAS submission:
- Board eligible or board certified in Pediatrics or Medicine-Pediatrics
- Current curriculum vitae
- Personal statement
- Three letters of recommendation
- Medical school transcript
- USMLE or COMLEX Step 1–3 score reports
- ECFMG certification (if applicable)
To qualify for appointment, candidates must:
- Complete pediatric residency training at an accredited institution
- Graduate from one of the following:
- LCME-accredited medical school in the United States or Canada
- AOA-accredited osteopathic medical school in the United States
- Medical school outside of the United States with one of the following:
- Currently valid ECFMG certificate
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction
- Medical school outside of the United States with completion of a Fifth Pathway program
provided by an LCME-accredited medical school
- Pass one of the following board examination series by the starting date of fellowship
training:
- USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3
- COMLEX Levels 1, 2, and 3
- Satisfy the requirements of the Louisiana State Boards of Medical Licensure for appointment to the specific level of training for which the position is offered
