Dr. Maren Batalden to Deliver the Keynote Address at the 5th Annual LSU School of Medicine Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Forum

Dr. Maren Batalden has accepted the invitation to deliver the keynote speech  for the 5th Annual LSU School of Medicine Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Forum on June 1, 2017.  Dr. Batalden is a practicing general internist with passions for health, professional development, and health systems improvement.  She is Associate Chief Quality Officer, Associate Director of Graduate Medical Education for Quality and Safety, and Director of Medical Management at the Cambridge Health Alliance. She partners with colleagues, learners, and patients, to create a culture of continuous improvement.

In her role as Associate Director of GME, Dr. Batalden partners with leaders of graduate medical education training programs to ensure that residents develop competency as professionals engaged in the improvement of health care quality and safety. She partners with institutional quality and safety and operational leadership to ensure that residents are meaningfully engaged in critical review of practice, systems design, and process improvement.

As Associate Chief Quality Officer, Dr. Batalden provides physician leadership for hospital-based efforts to ensure the quality and safety of patient care. She is actively engaged in initiatives to improve the patient experience, to improve adherence to evidence-based guidelines for care, and to improve care transitions and reduce hospital readmissions.

Finally, Dr. Batalden provides clinical care to a diverse population of patients on a general medicine service in a public community hospital and she provides clinical supervision to internal medicine residents and students from Harvard Medical School.
