Emergency Medicine Disaster Drill Takes Place in Learning Center

The Learning Center coordinated the Emergency Medicine Disaster Drill, an annual simulation training on May 24. Between two sessions, 40 residents and 10 faculty participated in the activity which was a mock scenario in which a driver lost control and drove into a crowd at a Mardi Gras parade. The Resident Team was typical of emergency medicine residents on duty during a shift, including 1 fourth year as super-charge, 3 upper year residents, and 3 interns. Medical students and observing residents were also available to act as part of the ancillary team. Patients varied in age from 18 months to 65 years old. A debriefing followed on the benefits of mass disaster patient simulation training.
