New Appointments and Promotions at School of Medicine Announced

Congratulations are in order for the following faculty of the School of Medicine who received new appointments, promotions and/or tenure:

Anatomy

  • Tiffany Wills, PhD has been promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure.

Cardiovascular Center of Excellence

  • Eric Lazartigues, PhD has been named as the Director of the Cardiovascular Center.
  • Jean Carnal has been promoted to Business Manager 1.

Cell Biology and Anatomy

  • Gregory Casey, PhD has been promoted to Associate Professor Research.
  • Nicole Chatelain has been promoted to Business Manager 2.
  • Jason Middleton, PhD has been promoted to Associate Professor Research.

Family Medicine

  • Atricia Every has been promoted to Assistant Business Manager.

Genetics

  • Edward Grabczyk, PhD has been promoted to Professor.
  • Fokhrul Hossain, PhD has been promoted to Assistant Professor Research.

Internal Medicine

  • Shannon Alwood, MD has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.
  • Marcus Bachhuber, MD, MPH has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.
  • Vince Cataldo, MD has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.
  • Pedro Cox-Alomar, MD, has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.
  • Karen Curry, MD was recently appointed Section Chief of Medicine for the LSUHSC Lafayette Internal Medicine Residency Program.  Dr. Curry completed her residency training at University Medical Center in Lafayette and stayed on as teaching faculty, beginning her professional career in 1998. She was promoted to Program Director in 2017 for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at University Hospital and Clinics and continues to provide support, guidance and a new vision for the Department of Medicine. 
  • Taniya De Silva, MD, has been promoted to Professor Clinical.
  • Jennifer Hart, MD has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.
  • Angela Johnson, MD has been promoted to Professor Clinical.
  • Stephen Lim, MD has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.
  • Miranda Mitchell, MD has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.
  • Joel Mosley, MD has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.
  • Daniel Stout, MD was appointed the Program Director of the LSUHSC Lafayette Internal Medicine Residency Program at Ochsner-University Hospital and Clinics June 26, 2022. Dr. Stout came to University Hospital and Clinics in 2015 and eventually served as Chair of the Clinical Curriculum Committee (CCC) and Associate Program Director for the LSUHSC Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Stout is double boarded in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. 
  • Suki Subbiah, MD has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.

  • Laura Hetzler, MD has been promoted to Professor Clinical.

Pathology

  • Rachna Jetly-Shridhar, MBBS, MPH, was promoted to Professor Clinical.

Pediatrics

  • Kate Brown, MD (Comprehensive Medicine) has been named Interim Program Director for the Medicine-Pediatrics program effective July 1, 2022. Dr. Brown has been a member of the med-peds faculty since 2019 and has served as the APD since coming onto the faculty. She is following Dr. Betty Lo (Comprehensive Medicine), who is stepping down as Medicine-Pediatrics Program Director after serving in this role for 23 years and is retiring from LSU Health. Dr. Lo built the Med - Peds program to its current strength with 24 residents annually.
  • Bonnie Desselle, MD began serving as Interim Department Head for Pediatrics effective August 1, 2022. Dr. Desselle is currently Professor of Pediatrics, Vice Chair of Medical Education for the department, and Chief Medical Education Officer at Children's Hospital. She is also a former Pediatrics Critical Care Division Head and Residency Program Director. Dr. Desselle is a graduate of the LSU School of Medicine and after completion of a Pediatric Critical Care fellowship, joined the faculty in 1995. She has served on many national, LSUHSC, School of Medicine, departmental, hospital, and community committees. In addition, Dr. Desselle has also earned the distinction of Master Pediatrician as awarded by the LA-American Academy of Pediatrics Chapter. 
  • Jessica Patrick-Esteve, MD, MSPH has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.
  • Richelle Monier, MD, has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.
  • Kenneth Paris, MD, MPH has been promoted to Professor Clinical.
  • Amy Prudhomme, DO, has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.

Physiology/ADACE

  • Elizabeth Avegno, PhD, has been promoted to Assistant Professor Research.
  • Xinping Yue, MD, PhD has been promoted to Associate Professor Tenure Track.

Psychiatry

  • Amy Dickson, PsyD has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.
  • Michelle Moore, PsyD, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Training Director of the Psychology Internship Program, was named Chief of Psychology.
  • Lindsey Martin Poe, PsyD has been promoted to Associate Professor Clinical.
  • Tammy Roberts has been named Program Coordinator.

  • Bradley Spieler, MD has been promoted to Professor Clinical.

Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center

  • Eileen Mederos, RN has been promoted to Clinical Trials Network Manager.
  • Susan Quinn has been promoted to Grants and Contracts Specialist.
  • Qiang Shen, MD, PhD has been awarded tenure.
  • Dorota Wyczechowska, PhD has been promoted to Research Manager Immunology Core.
