2022 Medical Student Research Symposium Winners Announced

The 2022 Medical Student Research Symposium was held on October 13th in the Lions Center. A total of 86 LSU medical students presented their research projects in person, with additional students giving virtual presentations. Their research was conducted at LSUHSC, the Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center, Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, University Medical Center, and other clinics and research centers throughout the state. Students who received federal and regional awards to conduct summer or year-long research outside the state also presented their projects.

Readers are encouraged to view their abstracts and posters and virtual presentations here

Organizers thanked the students, mentors, judges, and laboratory, clinical, and office personnel who made this possible. They also thanked supporters who provided student stipends, resources, and travel awards: the LSUHSC School of Medicine Dean’s Office, the National Institutes of Health's National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), and Dr. James Wittliff and Mrs. Mitzie Hano Wittliff.

Each of the winners received a travel award to present their research at a scientific conference.
