Proteomics Core

Instrumentation

The Core Facility is well equipped with instrumentations in 2D gel electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, plasmon resonance, sample separation, analysis, and ultimate detection and identification.

The major pieces of equipment serving the facility are:

2D Gel Electrophoresis

  • Amersham IPGphor and Ettan DALT 2D gel electrophoresis
  • 2 Typhoon imaging systems (for visualization of fluorescence dyes)
  • DeCyder software program for image analysis and spot processing
  • PDQuest 2D gel Analysis Software
  • Ettan liquid sample handling robot workstation

Mass Spectrometers and Software

  • Thermo Fisher Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid mass spectrometer coupled to a Thermo Fisher Dionex Ultimate 3000 nano/cap 2-dimensional HPLC system.
  • 2 Thermo Fisher Q Exactive Plus mass spectrometers coupled to 2 Thermo Fisher Vanquish Liquid Chromatography Systems.
  • Thermo-Fisher LTQ XL Linear Ion Trap mass spectrometer coupled to a Thermo Fisher Dionex Ultimate 3000 nano/cap 2-dimensional HPLC system.
  • Thermo Proteome Discoverer v2.4 software for qualitative and quantitative mass spec data analysis.
  • Skyline software for Parallel Reaction Monitoring (PRM) Workflows.
  • PEAKS Studio for de novo peptide sequencing.

Liquid Chromatography Systems

  • 2 Dionex Ultimate 3000 Multidimensional Liquid Chromatographer with UV/Vis detector

Surface Plasmon Resonance

  • BIAcore 3000 instrument, controller and analysis software

Sample Preparation Equipment

  • Visible wavelength microplate reader for protein concentration determination
  • -20 and -80 freezers for sample storage
  • SpeedVac Sample Lyophilyzers
  • Assorted centrifuges and microtube temperature blocks
