New Library Services to Support Your Scholarly Identity and Research Impact

In today’s complex research environment, maintaining an accurate and visible scholarly presence is essential. Researcher profiles are increasingly used to support grant applications, funder compliance, annual reviews, promotion and tenure processes, and collaboration opportunities. To help researchers manage their scholarly identities, the Libraries are pleased to offer two complementary services: the Scholarly Profile Audit and the ORCID iD Service.
Scholarly Profile Audit Service
Researchers often maintain profiles across multiple platforms, including ORCID, Scopus,
Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate. These systems help showcase scholarly
accomplishments, but profiles are often incomplete or contain works by another researcher
with a similar name.
The new Scholarly Profile Audit Service helps researchers ensure that their scholarly record is accurate, complete, and consistent across major research platforms. During the audit, librarians will review commonly used profiles and provide personalized recommendations for:
- Identifying missing or incorrectly attributed publications
- Resolving author name ambiguities
- Ensuring accurate calculation of citation-based metrics, including the h-index
ORCID iD Service
A key component of a strong scholarly identity is an ORCID iD, a unique 16-digit identifier
that distinguishes you from other researchers and creates a persistent connection
between you and your scholarly work. ORCID is integrated into manuscript submission
systems, publisher platforms, grant application workflows, and NIH's SciENcv Biosketch
tool. Unlike institutional accounts, an ORCID iD remains with you throughout your
career, regardless of changes in name, position, or affiliation.
An ORCID profile can serve as a professional online record of all your scholarly achievements while maintaining employment, education, and professional information. ORCID can also connect with publishers, funders, and databases to automatically update your record when new works are published.
The Libraries' ORCID iD Service provides personalized assistance with creating and optimizing ORCID profiles, adding works, connecting trusted organizations for automatic updates, consolidating duplicate accounts, and answering questions about ORCID best practices.

Researchers interested in either service can submit the Scholarly Profile Audit and ORCID iD Service Request Form. A librarian will review your request and contact you to discuss your needs.
