Phaethon Philbrook is currently a MD/PhD student in the Department of Genetics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC). Originally from Atlanta, GA, Phaethon completed his undergraduate schooling at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, pursuing his research interests in immunology at the New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute (NEITPI). Phaethon is currently completing his PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Augusto Ochoa, investigating metabolic changes in the tumor microenvironment. He is specifically exploring how these metabolic changes can induce immunosuppression and drug resistance. Further research interests include metabolic reprogramming, with the goal of dampening these immunosuppressive characteristics to allow a more robust anti-tumor response.
