Dr. Jaime Alleyn to Serve as OB/GYN Interim Department Head 

Jaime Alleyn, MD, will serve as the Interim Department Head for Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN). 

Dr. Alleyn joined the OB/GYN faculty in 2006 as a clinical instructor before being promoted to assistant professor in 2013 and to associate professor in 2018. Currently, he serves as the medical student clerkship director, the OB/GYN undergraduate medical education director, and the OB/GYN ambulatory services director at University Medical Center. Dr. Alleyn is a member of the Clinical Competency, Undergraduate Medical Education, Department Promotions and Residency Program Application Review Committees, the OB/GYN Educational Executive Group and is the division director of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Together, we remain deeply committed to supporting and strengthening our residency programs as they train the next generation of outstanding OB/GYN’s,” he said.

Dr. Alleyn obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC; received his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico; and completed a residency in OB/GYN at Tulane University School of Medicine.   

Dr. Alleyn is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and completed the LSUHSC Master Teacher program. He was recipient of the Association of Professors of OB/GYN Excellence in Teaching award, the Golden Pessary Award for Excellence in Mentoring, and was a nominee for the Allen A. Copping Award for Excellence in Teaching. He was also a nominee for the Aesculapian Society Excellence in Teaching as a junior faculty and won the award in 2022.
