Dr. Corey Hebert Crowned King of Maternal and Child Health for Mardi Gras 2023

Hebert's certificateDr. Corey Hebert, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine, has been named the first King of Maternal and Child Health for Mardi Gras 2023. The recognition was announced in a Certificate of Recognition, along with a key to the City, from Mayor LaToya Cantrell. 

The proclamation reads: “I, LaToya Cantrell, Mayor of the City of New Orleans, do hereby recognize Dr. Cory Hebert for your work in leading the Maternal and Child Health Marathon. And congratulations on becoming the first King in the history of Maternal and Child Health for New Orleans Mardi Gras 2023. Your relentless work in championing to improve maternal and child health in the State of Louisiana is appreciated.”

Mary Schultheis, President and CEO of Crescent City WIC Services, Inc., and Stephenie Marshall, MS, RDN, CCHC, Executive Director of the Daughters of Charity, presented Dr. Hebert with a crown, scepter, and the certificate during a surprise visit Thursday afternoon.

“Maternal and child health is so important to the betterment of our city, state and nation,” said Dr. Hebert. “I’m proud to have served for the last 25 years of my life to better empower families in this region. Our state has implemented several audacious new policies in the last two months that will enhance the health of children and mothers, and LSU Health New Orleans is poised to be at the forefront of this very important movement.”
