New Appointments and Promotions at School of Medicine Announced
Congratulations to the following faculty and staff of the School of Medicine who received new appointments and promotions:
Administration/Dean’s Office:
Dr. Lee Engel (Hospital Medicine) has been named Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. In this new
role, Dr. Engel will have oversight for accreditation of all residency and fellowship
programs in addition to a number of other responsibilities.
Cardiovascular Center of Excellence
Karl Moles has been promoted to Research Associate 2.
Internal Medicine
Terrell Caffery, MD has been named Section Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Baton Rouge Regional Campus.
Krystan Hosking has been promoted to Associate Business Manager.
Assistant Professor of Medicine, Section of Pulmonary/Critical Care & Allergy/Immunology Brandon Retif, MD, has assumed the role of Director of Medical Education for the UMCNO MICU.
Dr. Shane Sanne (Hospital Medicine) has been named Program Director for the Internal Medicine-New Orleans residency program. Dr. Sanne has served as the Associate PD for three years.
Thomas Sharp, PhD (Cardiology) has been promoted to Director of the Translational Core Lab.

Marie-Audrey Kautzmann Guerin, PhD has been promoted to Senior Staff Scientist.
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Jerlyn Rose has been promoted to Associate Business Manager.
Otorhinolaryngology
Andrelle Causey has been promoted to Associate Business Manager.
Pathology
Dr. Ellen Connor has been named Associate Program Director of the Pathology Residency Program. Dr.
Connor is both an LSU Medical School graduate and a graduate of our pathology residency
program, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Connor also serves as Director of
Autopsy Services.
Pediatrics
Kelly Allerton has been promoted to Associate Business Manager.
Rebecca Calix has been promoted to Pediatrics Residency Coordinator from Fellowship Coordinator and Assistant Residency Coordinator.
Pharmacology
Kelly Sherman, PhD has been promoted to Instructor, Research.
