Jarrod Harman Advocates for Vision Research Funding

Jarrod C. Harman is a doctoral candidate in the department of biochemistry and molecular biology who conducts vision research in the department of ophthalmology in the lab of Jeff Gidday. Jarrod presented and advocated for vision research funding across the United States at ARVO's Annual Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. on Capitol Hill in February as part of his Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Fellowship. He met with key stakeholders for Louisiana, including Senators Cassidy and Kennedy, to discuss funding and direction of the NIH and NEI.

He also began working with the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and the CubSight vision screen program designed to identify existing or potential vision disorders primarily in children ages 1 to 6 and to inform the parent accordingly. LLEF CubSight Vision Screening is a volunteer program offered 100% free of charge to the schools and residents of Louisiana.
