Departmental Publications Listing

Congratulations to the following individuals for the publication of their work in respective journals from October 2, 2019 - January 31, 2020 as reported to The Pulse.

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology:

Dr. Sabyasachi Chatterjee, post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Rinku Majumder, co-authored the abstract “Laminin G domains of Protein S bind and inhibit FIXa” with Amber Sylvain, Satish Pilli, Whitney Fant, Doerte Fricke, and Terry Watt, along with Dr. Rinku Majumder. The abstract appeared in the November 13th edition of Blood. Previous work from Dr. Majumder's lab showed that Protein S binds to the clotting factor FIXa and inhibits its function. Deficiencies in Protein S are associated with deep vein thrombosis, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and pulmonary embolism. Dr. Chatterjee used a series of biochemical and biophysical methods to determine the binding between Protein S and FIXa for the first time. This discovery opens an opportunity in directing future drug design to regulate this interaction and different clotting disorders.
