Pediatrics Adolescent Medicine Team Holds Medical Student Advocacy Training

The pediatric adolescent medicine team held a Medical Student Advocacy Training on February 1-2. This training was held in partnership with Lift Louisiana and Louisiana Public Health Institute, with the goal of giving medical students the foundational knowledge and tools to become effective physician advocates for reproductive health. This training was a great success with approximately 40 medical students from New Orleans and Shreveport participating. In conjunction with the training, on Friday, January 31st, the team also hosted an event called Power of the Provider: Teaching Beyond the Classroom at the ACE Hotel. This event was intended to give physicians, medical students and community partners the opportunity to network and hear firsthand about the advocacy experiences of medical students this past legislative session.
