Biography 

A native of West Texas, Dr. Justin C. Sowder, MD graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S. in Biology followed by medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he graduated as valedictorian and was selected as a member to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City followed by a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Dr. Sowder performs the full range of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures including facelift, rhinoplasty (nose job), blepharoplasty (eyelift), browlift, otoplasty (ear reshaping), and facial implants in addition to non-surgical procedures including Botox and filler injections and laser skin resurfacing. Dr. Sowder's skills and experience in reconstructive surgery include repair of facial defects following skin cancer removal, reconstruction of congenital ear malformations (microtia), and facial repair after traumatic injuries.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sowder has made research contributions to the field of reconstructive surgery in both the clinical and translational realms. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals such as JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America, Facial Plastic Surgery, the Journal of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, Headache, and Head & Neck, and has been invited to publish book chapters regarding rhinoplasty and facial reanimation following facial paralysis.

Dr. Sowder is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, golfing, skiing and watching football. Most importantly, he cherishes spending time with his family. He resides in Baton Rouge with his wife, who is also a physician, their two children, and their two very loyal dogs.
