Dr. Dasa Named Co-Chair of National Initiative to Reduce Opioid Use in Orthopaedics

Dr. Vinod Dasa has been named Co-Chair of the National Initiative to Reduce Opioid Use in Orthopaedics, recognizing his continued leadership in advancing safer, more effective approaches to pain management and surgical recovery.

His appointment comes as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, or AAOS, expands its national efforts to improve how pain is managed before, during and after orthopaedic treatment. On July 13, 2026, the AAOS announced the launch of its new Pain Management Resource Center, an online hub providing evidence-based guidance, educational materials and practical tools for orthopaedic professionals, patients and caregivers.

Dr. Dasa is also serving as an editor of the AAOS Pain Management Resource Center. The center prominently features the LSU Orthopedics Post-Op Pain Rx Protocol, which provides a structured, multimodal approach to managing different levels of postoperative pain.

This new national leadership role reflects Dr. Dasa’s longstanding commitment to transforming orthopaedic pain management through research, education and patient-centered innovation. His work continues to position LSU Health New Orleans at the forefront of efforts to provide effective pain relief while reducing unnecessary opioid exposure.
