Ryan Smith at Osteoarthritis Research Society Conference 2026

Two LSU Health students recently had the opportunity to present their research at the Osteoarthritis Research Society conference, highlighting their work in pain management, recovery, and outcomes for patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty.

Ryan Smith presented research titled “The Efficacy of Preoperative Cryoneurolysis in Obese Patients Undergoing Total Knee Arthroplasty.” His work explored the potential benefits of using cryoneurolysis before surgery to help manage pain in obese patients receiving total knee replacements.

Annelise Juneau presented “Post-TKA Pain and Function Trajectory Following Modern Multimodal Analgesia Protocols.” Her research focused on how patients experience pain and regain function after total knee arthroplasty when treated with today’s multimodal pain management strategies.

Their participation is an exciting accomplishment and a strong example of how student research can play an important role in shaping the future of patient-centered orthopedic care.
